Winter tips
Winter activities away from the ski slopes in Arosa
After a few days of skiing many people fancy a change. It's a good thing, then, that Arosa has so many alternative winter activities like romantic horse-drawn carriage rides through the snow. We have put together a list of some of the best winter activities away from the slopes.
Snowshoeing, Nordic walking, tobogganing, ice skating, paragliding, curling, mountain adventures with a qualified guide and plenty of fun events ensure there are many options on offer for when your legs get tired and it's time to try something new.
Free and fun activity for all the family
Tobogganing is a great winter activity for families and couples. Holding on tight to each other, tobogganers whizz down into the valley along a groomed toboggan run with high banks of snow on each side.
Those who like to take it easy can use a traditional sled made of wood, while ambitious racers can hire a more sporty toboggan. There is the option of either walking to the top of the run or taking the gondola.
Lots of different ice-based sports on offer in Arosa
When it comes to sports on ice, Arosa has much more to offer than "just" ice skating. As well as free skating and skating lessons there is the chance to have a go at curling, "Eisstockschiessen" (a traditional alpine sport similar to curling) and even show off your moves at an "ice disco".
On certain evenings the open-air ice rink in Arosa also offers floodlit ice-skating. Ice hockey is available at the indoor ice rink, where you can also hire equipment.
As well as the countless mountain activities on offer in the region there is the opportunity to take a tandem flight with an experienced paraglider to see Arosa and the surrounding region from a new perspective.
